Pete Brownell grew up hunting with his father, Frank and grandfather, Bob (founder of Brownells, Inc.).
He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1992 with a BA in Marketing (his later MBA was also earned at U of I).
He became President of Brownells, Inc. in December of 2007 and is now the President and CEO of both Brownells, Inc, and Sinclair International.
He has attended various NRA Summer Gunsmithing schools, serves on the NRA Membership Committee and is currently the Corporate Partner board member for POMA.
As President of Brownells he helped establish the very first NRA Foundation (for Youth Shooting Sports) and the first NRA/ILA Foundation (for Voter Registration).
He is also a Founders Member and Trailblazers #8 at Whitington Center, reflecting his love of the outdoors, hunting and mountain climbing. He was instrumental in providing the necessary financial and facility support to help get the local SCTP program started along with contributing to the local 4H youth shooting program.
Pete is also a Benefactor Member of NRA, a life member of SCI and The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation with other memberships in USPSA, IDPA and chairman of the Iowa Pheasants Forever Leadership Team.
Pete believes we need to encourage more young people to join the gunsmithing profession and to that end has established the Brownells Gunsmith Career Fair, as well as donating CNC machining centers to three gunsmithing schools and providing scholarships to assist students attending those schools.
He also established Brownells Business Advantage which leverages the company’s relationships with UPS to get reduced shipping rates for gun business and First National Bank of Omaha to help those same businesses save on credit card processing rates.
Under Pete’s guidance the company sponsors the USPSA Multi-Gun and Handgun Nationals, the Police Nationals and more than 500 other local, regional and national shooting competitions every year.
